Social

Responsibility

Producing the finest quality pure vanilla products has always been a core value of Nielsen-Massey; however, making the world a better place to live ranks even higher. As one of the first companies to introduce an organic and fair trade vanilla from Madagascar, we are committed to programs that promote sustainable environmental practices and which enable farmers to earn a successful livelihood in countries where poverty is common. As part of this sustainability commitment, Nielsen-Massey has taken a leadership role in improving the overall health of the vanilla industry, with a particular emphasis on improving economic prospects for the farmers who make the industry possible. Through initiatives such as strengthening security for growers, preventing the harvest of immature beans, improving the professionalism of the industry and encouraging the use of proper curing and farming methods, Nielsen-Massey is playing an important role in strengthening the supply chain and making vanilla a more sustainable crop.

Community

Involvement

The Nielsen-Massey Foundation was founded in 2009 with a mission to assist disadvantaged children and adults with education and leadership development, especially in the field of culinary arts. We also consider requests for assistance in the development of sustainable environmental practices or for programs benefiting people in countries of need. The foundation’s board of directors consists of Craig, Beth and Matt Nielsen—third-generation owners of Nielsen-Massey Vanillas–and their mother Camilla Nielsen. The goal is to continue the company's long-standing charitable tradition, and to help achieve that objective, Nielsen-Massey Vanillas will donate ten percent of its profits to The Nielsen Massey Foundation.
