Pound Cake

Ingredients

  • 4 sticks margarine (32 tablespoons)
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Nielsen-Massey Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon Nielsen-Massey Pure Almond Extract
  • 5 large eggs
  • 3 1/2 cups sifted flour (either White Lily plain or cake flour)
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup milk

Directions

Cream margarine, shortening and sugar until very light and fluffy (at least 15 minutes on your mixer). Add flavorings. Add eggs one at a time and beat well. Alternately add the measured flour and baking powder with milk, beginning and ending with flour. Bake in an angel tube pan (we suggest putting wax paper on bottom) for 1 1/2 hours in preheated 325 degrees F oven.

  • 440 grams sifted flour (either White Lily plain or cake flour)
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 240 ml milk

Directions

Alternately add the measured flour and baking powder with milk, beginning and ending with flour. Bake in an angel tube pan (we suggest putting wax paper on bottom) for 1 1/2 hours in preheated 160 degrees C oven.
