Recipes That Use Floral Flavors

How to use Floral Flavors

Summer is the perfect time to welcome fragrant and beautiful floral flavors into your recipes. Nielsen-Massey® Rose Water and Orange Blossom Water are wonderful additions to your summer sweet treats, refreshing drinks and fun cocktails.

Floral flavors are both delicate and easy to overuse. We suggest using the ¼ teaspoon to taste. As they’re both floral in nature, these waters can be used in place of vanilla in many recipes, but we suggest lowering the amount used. Read on to find delicious recipes for Rose Water and Orange Blossom Water.

What is Rose Water?

Our sweet and fragrant Rose Water is an elegant steam distillate of the purest rose petals. Its delicate floral notes are perfect in Middle Eastern, Indian and Greek cuisine. Only a few drops are needed to make a luxurious addition to jams, drinks, pastries and even savory dishes.

This sweet-scented water pairs well with fruits such as strawberries, dark and white chocolate and, of course, vanilla. Try Rose Water in fruit compotes, French Macarons or even panna cotta.

What is Orange Blossom Water?

Orange Blossom Water, also known as the Essential Oil of Neroli, is produced by water distillation of the blossoms of the bitter orange tree (Citrus Aurantium). Familiar to Persian, Arabic, Indian and Turkish cuisine, Orange Blossom Water brings the sweet perfume of the orange grove to a variety of dishes. It is a delicious addition to various sweets including custards, puddings, cakes, cookies, candies and other confections.
